The oil-free bushing is a mechanical component that moves on the rotating and linear shafts through sliding motion. The mechanical component that uses rolling bearings to obtain this movement is called the rotary ball spline.
The action of the oil-free bushing structure is that the shaft that rotates and moves in a straight line slides through the gap between the oil-free bushing and the shaft fixed on the fixed seat, and realizes the movement on the two axes through the straight line movement in the paper direction and the rotation of the central axis in the paper direction. On the other hand, the rotary ball spline uses the linear guide roller and the rolling body in the direction of rotation that are double configured in the radius direction to realize the rotation and linear movement of the internal shaft relative to the fixed outer ring.
There are two differences between oil-free bushing and rotary ball spline, the first is the number of components. Compared with oil-free bushing and rolling bearing, it can be seen from Figure 1 that the oil-free bushing has a simple structure and only three components, including the fixed seat, are low in cost. The number of components of rolling bearing has reached two digits, and the cost has also increased proportionally. The second point is that the friction coefficient is different. Since the friction coefficient of sliding bearing is larger than that of rolling bearing, the force used to drive the rotating shaft in oil-free bearing is greater. When oil free bushing is used, the output power of motor must be higher than that of rolling bearing.
